LCME welcomes Luca Pellizzaro as the new representative for Italy
"Being linked with a University and delivering such good quality syllabuses, I think that LCME will be the key for the next years in music education in Italy."
London College of Music Examinations (LCME) is happy to introduce Luca Pellizzaro as our new representative for Italy. With his passion for music education and filmmaking, Luca brings a unique perspective to the LCME community
From bass player to music educator
Luca's musical journey began at 18 when he found his passion for the bass guitar. "I play the best instrument of them all: bass guitar," Luca shares. "I started when I was about 18 years old because the band where I was poorly playing keys needed a new bass player and no one found that instrument as sexy as I did."
This early connection to music grew into a career in music education. "I've always wanted to be an educator," he explains, "and when I got my degree in Modern Music in Italy, I thought it was time to open a music school and try to inspire young people."
Luca became an LCME representative through the support of his peers. "Actually... some ex-colleagues put my name forward and then Ben Norbury wanted me in," he tells us. Now he can bring LCME's high-quality music qualifications to students across Italy.
Music education in Italy
Italy offers many possibilities for music education, but also has some challenges. "Italy is a very 'musical' country and we've got a high concentration of music schools, so there is a lot to develop here," Luca notes. "The most Italian challenge is that music is not recognised as a 'job' here, so it's always been a part-time job or a hobby for most of us."
Despite these difficulties, Luca sees great potential for LCME in Italy. "Being linked with a University and delivering such good quality syllabuses, I think that LCME will be the key for the next years in music education in Italy."
Beyond music
Beyond his music career, Luca has other creative talents. "I'm a filmmaker, started as a need for my music school and became a profession during COVID," he shares.
As Luca starts his new role with LCME, his enthusiasm is clear. "I'm really happy to be part of this amazing team," he says – and we are equally happy to welcome him to the LCME family.
We look forward to seeing how Luca will help music students and teachers in Italy benefit from LCME's qualifications and support. To contact Luca or to find out more about taking exams in Italy, please visit LCME Exam Centres in Italy.
